So California alone would have elected the US president without the Electoral College?

It goes on:

“…, while Clinton's overall margin looks large and impressive, it is due to Clinton's huge margin of victory in one state — California — where she got a whopping 4.3 million more votes than Trump.”

Trump: 30
Clinton: 20

Unfortunately Trump is an anomaly and appears uncontrollable. Hopefully Congress, lead by Rand Paul will keep him in check and he will be convinced to be more reasonable by some of the talent on his team.
