I know it’s BPL now, but they’re only a management company that reports to the Government for their instructions. The Prime Minister of the government that hired them at great cost to an already bankrupt power company says he’s distressed by the latest blackouts.”
He’s so caring. Yet noting is mentioned about the destruction of equipment in the households affected by the dirty power and brownouts.
Successive governments, with the exception of the much maligned road project, have ignored maintenance of pubic infrastructure. None were forgotten more than BEC it would appear and now the long suffering taxpayer will be stuck even harder with higher taxes and electricity bills to make an attempt to “fix” this decades old problem.
To paraphrase the great Canadian Journalist, Rex Murphy, when offering his "Point of View" on the Cash for Access controversy in Ottawa recently, “some leading PLP’s seem to think that because they are PLP, that defines whatever they do as good healthy and pure. The exhaust blast of indignation and horror at the FNM crowds bottomless contempt for The Bahamian people and their right to electricity would be so loud as to deafen if this happened under the FNM’s watch.”
But it’s under the PLP’s watch and they have better intentions, don’t they. Heck what can beat spending $20 million on a party or trips with 20 people in your entourage? Surely, buying a new generator for BEC is just passe stuff.
Watch Rex Murphy's Cash for Access video below. It all seems so familiar.
