Darron Cash deserves our support whether he did it or not

AuthorityIt does not matter which political party one supports, if any, the search and seizure of private property of Mr. Darron Cash demands that we stand with him in this matter. Read an initial press story on the matter here…

Suggestions that this action is to do with revelations about questionable loans by Bank of The Bahamas to political cronies and more continue to swirl and if this is the reason for such draconian measures, I submit we are in deeper trouble than I thought.

If the action of employees in the state owned (supposedly owned by all Bahamians) bank, whether urged on by a politician or not, is to remain a secret, no matter how badly it impacts the organisation, or falls outside the parameters of sensible credit risks as alleged, we no longer live in a democracy.

Should this action be allowed to stand, why would anyone come forward to report wrong doing in the government or any of the many agencies in the future?

Would this affect how or if informants will help the Police with other matters considered "secret"?

Is this a deliberate act by the governing party to silence any opposition to their potential abuses of power?

Sometimes a hero shows up to keep alleged wrong doing by those in political power in check from where we least expect it.

Let's support of Mr. Cash whether he released the information or not. This appears to be nothing less than rank political intimidation that should not be allowed to stand.

Whistleblowers are crucial to a well functioning democracy.
