Perry Christie got his mojo?

Perry ChristiePress reports in The Tribune yesterday suggest that Mr. Perry Christie (PLP), Prime Minister has asked his political appointee as chairman of the National Insurance Board (NIB) Gregory Moss (PLP) member of parliament for Marco City to resign.

Mr. Moss has been one of the central figures in a major scandal at NIB, where he has been having a spat with the director of NIB, Algernon Cargill who has filed a writ in Supreme Court seeking damages as a result of Mr. Moss' actions.

Mr. Cargill is credited with turning NIB around and collecting millions of unpaid premiums while Mr. Moss, a relative newcomer on the political scene has made some very questionable moves during his brief tenure as non-executive Chairman.

It finally looks like Mr. Christie has his mojo and hopefully his recent action will give him the confidence to keep his crew in line.

If the PM had his ‘mojo’ back, he would have made the right NIB appointment in the first place, been more decisive and clear about why they are just now discussing Tax Reform and more decisive about the Gambling Referendum … so me thinks not!

Unfortunately for The Bahamas when it comes to MOJO Prime Minister Christie is like the commercial for 7Up used to be, “Never had it never will!”

It doesn’t take “mojo” to empty the trashcan particularly when it is your trash that needs to be emptied.. Bahamians have to ask themselves why does the PM have to go to his wastebasket to resurrect political appointments, consultants and international representatives.. The nation deserves far better than what is being offered.. It is a sad state of affairs if this is all the NEW PLP can come up with..
With just over sixty percent of young voters voting for the PLP, they as well as many others must really be disappointed in the PM’s inept judgment.. Oh well as they say to the victors goes the spoils of office.. But be careful Mr. PM the international credit agencies again have the Bahamas in their downgrade gun-sights as we are again moving towards financial self-destruction.. Time to give up the spoils of appointments and political payoffs and adopt a program of financial prudence and political austerity before its to late..
