Hope in Shadows. A worthy project for the homeless

"Directed self help! Love it!"

Our son and daughter-in-law were visiting during the holidays and one of the gifts they brought was the Hope in Shadows 2013 Calendar. Buy it here…

The calendar is made up of photographs taken by "people and communities impacted by poverty and marginalization" through a contest among the same people. They are then distributed/sold by a network of homeless and/or low-income people. Find out more here…

This looks like a fabulous idea that could be duplicated here to help provide a sense of community, purpose and income among and for our homeless and low-income people. Maybe an idea for one of our local service clubs?

The market for these calendars might be limited among Bahamians but it might be something tourists would also like to buy.
