Mr. Barry Williams, Guardian Business Reporter had this front page story in the Nassau Guardian Business Section today – Monday, June 19, 2006.
He does make an error referring to this blogger as an economist. I am not of course, but do enjoy the subject (economics) a whole lot. He also calls me Gordon, but I have certainly been called worse, so that’s okay.
The debt outlined by the Nassau Institute relates to information available at the time, but as the Fuel Usage Review Committee (FURC) nor the Government have released the details of the "deal" with Venezuela, the numbers could move up or down but they provide a useful analysis.
We again implore the government to act in a transparent manner. We are told the government works for us but it appears they believe we are not smart enough to understand what they are commiting us to.
At the end of the day the government should be providing more than the rhetoric of one of its Cabinet Ministers in support of this proposal. We have been told this information is available in a report that has been presented to Cabinet by the FURC, but it must be a state secret?
