Let me first of all point out that I consider the owner of Compass Point a friend with similar interests and attitudes toward numerous things, so it might not be a surprise for me to say that I agree with the position he has taken in the ad he published. (Shown in the image to the left.)

The Minister of Tourism, and now the Prime Minister, suggested the Government is being threatened. This after turning the investor around for approximately two years, and the action proposed (closing his resort) will bring economic harm to himself, should at least signal the government that something is seriously wrong with public policy.

The government has to scrap to find volunteers for their committees and here is a major investor volunteering to serve on a group to make a list of recommended changes to existing laws and regulations with specific emphasis on the hotel industry, ultimately to make doing business here easier. A benefit to all business people and ultimately all Bahamians.

Not to mention the fact that the country pays consultants millions of dollars for exercises like Mr. Rodney proposes, but he would volunteer.

To suggest an investor should leave if he doesn't like how things go here is, well, the height of rank political rhetoric unbecoming of a Government founded on principles like transparency and promises of improving the ease of doing business.

All the good the FNM is doing and has done is being eroded with issues like this.
