Millennial Socialists: Can we blame them?

SocialismCircle"On the IEA blog this week, their  Head of Political Economy Dr Kristian Niemietz asks if the young should be blamed for their flirtations with socialism.

"Kristian notes that, with socialism, the range of possible outcomes stretches from quite bad to extremely bad. It’s heads, you get sent to the GDR, tails, you get sent to Democratic Kampuchea.

"Millennial Socialists may be opposed to capitalism, he notes, but many take a stance against free markets and free enterprise without actually examining different solutions to domestic problems.

"For example: yes, Britain has a housing crisis. So why not look around whether there are comparable countries that don’t have a housing crisis, and ask what they do differently, says Kristian."
