Victimization And Unfairness Are Not Equal Partners With Justice

Indeed, what occurred on Tuesday, 12 February is a travesty. It would have been a travesty had the event that unfolded on the aforementioned date, occurred under the FNM or the PLP administration. In this case this debacle occurred under the FNM's administration.

At the end of the day, the manner in which justice is served speaks powerfully to the practice of democracy, the dispensing of justice, the rule of law, and US AS A PEOPLE no matter our "political leaning."

I have read, and listened to the reports on the Reckley, Symonette, and Vincent debacle with great interest. Yes! It is a debacle!

However, the protestations of the PLP are extremely self-serving and an affrontary to intelligent people. The PLP is not entirely innocent given their history. The PLP, along with the FNM, need a serious "come to Jesus moment."

Both the PLP and the FNM have perfected and made an art form out of victimization and publicly humiliating Bahamians who do not share their "political philosophy," which both parties do not possess. In my view, both parties practice political voodoo.

Justice and legal retribution were not meant to be served in a carnival and junkanoo like atmosphere in a democracy. Be it Reckley, Symonette, Vincent, Collie, Hall, or any other individual, certainly, this parading of individuals in public serves no useful purpose. What about the Ministers Dames, Sands, and Attorney General Bethel who were named by Chief Magestrate Ferguson-Pratt in the Frank Smith case?

I thought that no one is supposed to be above the law. My views on the present situation does not presuppose that the persons in question are not guilty. However, I still believe that any accused person is innocent until proven guilty!

We must stop making a mockery of the dispensing of justice. I repeat for clarity both the PLP and the FNM are and have been guilty of making a mockery of the Justice System in The Bahamas.

There comes a time when one has to realize what is right and what is wrong. For me it is as simple as that!

I have felt the sting of the cruel hand of victimization and unfair treatment first hand, which was perpetrated by both the PLP and the FNM. It is not a good place to be, particularly if you are not guilty.

Unfortunately when the PLP and the FNM hurt or accuse you falsely, they do not let up or forget….there is no reconciliation on their part with respect to wrong doing.

Those who perpetrated and continue to perpetrate, the acts of victimization and unfair treatment, always want to tell the victimized to forget what has happened and move on.

Well, it makes those perpetrators and supporters of the evil practices of victimization and unfair treatment feel uncomfortable when those who are the victims choose to tell their stories.

On the other hand, the perpetrators feel a certain sense of comfort when the victims choose to not follow their advice.

In all cases, in so far as the dispensing of justice is concerned, it must be transparent, and Lady Justice is supposed to be blind….I stand with Lady Justice…
