One of my overriding concerns since 1996 at least and maybe before has been the exponential increase in the deficit and debt trends of The Bahamas.

Well I just came across the attached documents that are very enlightening.

Hope you will take the time to peruse them.

While I disagree with increasing the VAT to 12 percent, the Government appears to be on the right track with their attempt to avert fiscal crisis. When these charts are digested it reveals quite clearly how the country has been duped over the decades.

Mrs. Joan Thompson, the former president of The Nassau Institute always told a story of a meeting with a former Minister of Finance while campaigning for her vote she expressed concern about the deficits and debt trajectory. Putting his hand on her shoulder he told her not to worry he had it under control.

If the evidence here is control all the former finance ministers should have resigned their Cabinet Posts in ill repute.
