Please Mr. Christie, enough is enough with this crass idea of renaming long established major thoroughfares in this, our capital city.
Some years back another cretin decided to rename Harold Road for a reasonably successful quarter mile sprinter. Now the Prime Minister has announced that an even more important roadway, Thompson Boulevard, has been renamed University Drive, yet again adding to confusion for the myriad of businesses active along this significant road.
I therefore beg those businesses to maintain their various letterheads and business cards as Thompson Boulevard and, perhaps, add a small line beneath saying “a.k.a. University Drive!”
In fact, Mr. Christie the word “Drive” implies it leads from the major road, here “Thompson Boulevard” to something, again, here the University.
I would, therefore, suggest the ideal road to be renamed would be the old Tucker Road.
Yours,
Harry Strachan
