One of the dailies today had the headline, “PM: I regret finger gesture.” Mr. Christie, very sorry, but regretting something is very far from apologizing for something; and we, the longsuffering public, who made the mistake of putting you in government, deserve an abject apology from you for your disgusting show of bad taste and lack of self-control.

By “regretting” your action just means you totally meant the action but “regret” that anyone actually saw you make it! Now, put it right and get on your knees and beg our forgiveness ….. Sir!
