Sir,

From the outside trying to peer into the stupidity that has been allowed to manifest itself with the Baha Mar situation, we, the Bahamian people are being led to believe that all Mr. Izmirlian has to do, to complete the necessary work and have the resort opened in double quick time, is sign a guarantee.  As we all know, full well, a guarantee is not a movement of monies now but a possible demand if the actual borrower fails to repay.

Having heard and read allegations about the horrendous history of China State Construction, and its subsidiaries, all over the world, it is quite obvious, to this writer, that Mr. Izmirlian’s reluctance to sign any guarantee for CSCEC is not to upset Mr. Christie nor Mrs. Maynard-Gibson but rather because he knows that his guarantee will be called!  I will further opine that the Bahamian Government’s refusal to offer a State guarantee on the suggestion of Mr. Izmirlian, is not because they are fed up, although, of course, they may be, with Mr. Izmirlian, but because they also are confident that their guarantee would be called!

Ohh, and heaven help us, but this is the same construction company that is building the extensions to the British Colonial Hotel.  Excuse me but the first heavy winds, I don’t want to be anywhere near that building!!
