How does our PM defend the indefensible?

Prime Minister Perry Christie is said to have blasted 'Rich Doctors' for criticising aspects of his National Health Insurance Plan (NHI).

Joining the ranks of Dr. Gomez and Dr. Nottage with ad hominem attacks instead of being prime ministerial and offering a legitimate defense, he chose the low road.

But as we know, this is nothing new in the game of politics, but seems to prove there is little hope of raising the level of debate in what is supposed to be an "honourable place".

So instead of offering details of how his plan will improve pubic health services and what mechanisms will be put in place to reverse the plan should it run amok, (as anticipated) verbal abuse is what we get.

How does our PM defend the indefensible? He tells the nation how sympathetic he is of the plight of the poor that have no health insurance like he can afford for his disabled son.

Really?

His solution as you will note from his discourse is to take money from other people that might or might not be able to afford it. Seldom, if ever, do you hear those that can use the coercive power of government to "help" offering any of their immense wealth for other people.

First VAT, now NHI?

I'm reminded of Dracula and bloodsucking.

Where's my garlic?
