What is Parliament’s vision and mission? Besides cacophony that is

image from 4.bp.blogspot.comThe personal spat between MP's Ryan Pinder and Andre Rollins aside, the conduct of people in Parliament generally seems to have deteriorated to no more than a "poppy show" where insulting each other, not debate/discussion is the order of the day.

Teasing is fun mind you, but as the country is torn apart economically, some self inflicted and others the result of ongoing issues around the world, is it time for those in Parliament (in and outside of the ruling party) to step up and work together in crucial areas in an effort to find solutions?

I am of the view the more control government takes to "fix" things, the worse it gets for everyone. but at least Parliament should take the time to review relevant studies, like this one… , in an effort properly analyse what they are doing that might be causing economic harm.

Instead, we see a Parliament where serious discussion and thought have given way to meaningless rants about how great they are and what a wonderful job they're doing. All this in spite of the record of deterioration that is there for everyone to see.

Maybe they need to ease off writing rules for everyone else (laws) and write some to keep themselves under control?

Do they need a retreat to come up with a Vision and Mission statement to focus their activities in response to the many serious issues facing the country?

That might just force them to realise shouting insults and sarcasm, while fun, solves nothing.

As Dr. Andre Rollins recently put it:

"But we see in the House of Assembly, people hysterically banging on tables in some euphonic type of symphony as though all is well in this country."

While Dr. Rollins is right about those hysterically banging on tables, it's not euphonic at all. It's more like a cacophony.
