The news is abuzz about the possible end to the US Embargo of Cuba. The hope, not only for the Cuban people living there, but for the Cuban diaspora that had their properties stolen by the Castro regime is palpable.
The embargo does more harm to the people in Cuba than not, and it should be lifted.
The second most important issue from my perspective is how the "Castro Regime II" will proceed.
The marginal "freedoms" being granted in recent years, do not go far enough for the people to gain more independence and their individual sovereignty.
As the dated cartoon on the left points out, the "Castro regime I" really never wanted the embargo lifted because it would not help his political cause. Besides the US embargo has really been becoming more and more porous over the years and trade continued apace.
The ball will be firmly planted in the "Castro Regime II's" court to fulfill the promises of the Cuban "Revolution".
When that happens, we can give the third cheer.
One of the best moves of the arduous Obama administration in my view. Read more about that here…
