According to Quincy Parker of Guardian Business, Prime Minister Christie recently announced "a focused approach to offset whatever kind of disadvantage people are placed in because of VAT." … "Including policing the foodstores to ensure that they don't put up prices without justification."

So beside the played out price control policy foodstores will now have to put up with inspectors form the VAT office?

Here we have no less a person than the prime minister admitting that people will be disadvantaged by the governments new tax system, VAT, which will increase prices, yet he is going to institute yet another group of bureaucrats to police the stores? Are we a Police State?

January 10, 1967 ushered in Majority Rule and in the words of the Prime Minister again, "was a singular moment of liberation for us all" but as time goes on, and government continues to increase taxes and add other restrictions, we are becoming slaves to an overbearing government.

Surely the role of government is not one that inflicts an excessive burden of taxation on its citizens?

It does prove however that the govenrment is trying to stay ahead of the VAT race that it has created.
