Some PLP’s embarrassed over the handling of Dr. Rollins

image from jonesbahamas.comPLP friends of mine are holding their heads in exasperation over the handling of the Dr. Rollins matter.

First we heard the PLP is a big tent and people are allowed to disagree. Not like the former government where people were axed for not toeing the line.

Then the party reportedly called a National General Council meeting and instructed Dr. Rollins to apologise for his comments.

And in yesterday's newspaper the PLP party chairman has allegedly said that 'Sorry may not be enough for Rollins'.

So what could have caused this turnabout?

I believe Dr. Rollins stood on his firm convictions and that being the case he should not apologise. And it's difficult to challenge that.

Terminating relationships is never easy, but it appears some leaders in the PLP party, like its chairman, have made such a public spectacle of the matter now the conflicting signals are making a mockery of things.

In other words, if the party is not happy with Dr. Rollins, they can simply ask him to leave, but all this back and forth cements the idea that the SS PLP is adrift with torn sails.

Those PLP friends of mine are wondering what went wrong with all the hope and promises of a better government their party promised.

According to press reports this morning, Dr. Rollins did not apologise.

Will we get more ranrts form the party chairman now or will he take his lead from the PM?
