At the recent Canto meeting here a director of Digicel made a rather telling remark.  He wants users of Skype to pay for the privilege …. ?  He seems to think that Skype users have an unfair advantage!  This coming from the company that decimated the established Jamaican telecom company (JT) taking 70% of that company’s business through a vicious pricing campaign, that JT could not counter as they have substantial infrastructural costs that Digicel does not, as Digicel is solely a mobile supplier.

Since we're talking about the telecoms industry, I understand now why URCA placed such a draconian fine on Bahamas Telecommunications Company. Obviously it's to pay for those asinine TV advertisements that have been wasting minutes a number of times every day for months.

You know the ones; with the guy harassing everyone to respond before the 30th. June … err … excuse me, but this is late August … !!!  and the other one has that rather frightening-looking, heavily painted, black Barbie Doll, didn’t listen to what she was saying, too scared!
