As we reflect on the D-Day anniversary yesterday I was reminded of Mr. Basil Johnson.
This "humble Grants Town boy, of Hay Street, Nassau, Bahamas, was in the thick of the battle and the theatre of war. And at the time, he was only 23 and a Warrant Officer Flight Sergeant in the British Royal Air Force's elite 156 pathfinder squadron!"

"And you can view all his bombing missions (50 of them) from 1943 to 1944 on the following site. Just scroll down to the J's and click on Johnson. Then click on "List Of Missions Flown". You will see that he bombed France on June 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 14, 1944:" here… http://www.156squadron.com/display_photoindex.asp?pid=0
He is one of quite a number of incredible Bahamians that risked their lives so we might remain "free", such as that liberty is today around the so-called free world.
