After years of attempting to get a copy of an Auditor General's report without success, I was beginning to think they were only a figment of my imagination. Maybe a rare skit put on by Parliament, pretending there was an Auditor General that makes a report on Government's financial dealings.

Well believe it or not, a friend has confirmed to me that the Auditor General does exist and they do report from time to time, providing me with a copy of the 2011 report, and I can't wait to digest it.

This prompted me to dig back into the blog archives and I found this post… from March 2009 applauding the effort of the Auditor General's Office for creating a web site site, where they promised to display the reports.

Then this post… from July 2009 indicates that no reports were posted as yet.

Now the government has either removed the site altogether, or hidden it from view.

Oh well, so much for real accountability and transparency by the government.
