I must have missed something alone the pathway of life.. Morality I believe is the conscious of human judgement as to what constitutes right and that what is wrong.. Hard facts, say in the crime of forcible rape, may be indisputable evidence, but depending upon social conscious or beliefs, moral outcomes may radically differ between different societies.. In Islamic societies the legal basis of guilt will differ from western societies legal assignment of guilt despite the facts of a specific case are identical.. Guess, depending upon ones traditional point-of-view or ingrained religious beliefs, we are all scoundrels in one sense or another.. Scoundrels or not, the facts of a specific case are the underlying basis for moral judgement of guilt or innocence as determined by social custom or order.. I don’t believe John Stuart Mill would find much disagreement with such a conclusion..

For example. He’s a good christian man, so we should not give him a hard time about not paying his taxes.
A moral argument in an attempt to obfuscate.

To use moral statements to refute the given facts of criminal conduct is both immoral and decadent in its own right.. Just as wrong from a moral perspective is to permit this criminal conduct to go unpunished.. Given the facts of his transgression, he should be dismissed from public office.. He is guilty by his own admission of wrong doings by violating the law.. No arguments of moral standing can overcome or even coverup the indisputable facts of deliberate criminality..
