FATCA should go away

TJNby Anonymous

Surfing the web this afternoon I somehow came across this site financialsecrecyindex.com for the Tax Justice Network … err … whoever they may be!   Anyway quite interesting!

Some fun facts came out; remember who bitched and moaned at the turn of the century about tax havens and what nasty people they were? If memory serves it was the O.E.C.D. nations and the United States of America among a few others? And what were we doing, oh, that's right, hiding money that "rightfully" should be in home country bank accounts so that country could claim huge taxes, or something like that.

Well isn't amazing what a few years and draconian laws (in our case anyway!) can do.  This list apparently reflects the most secretive nations willing to hide fortunes of the wealthiest non-residents  and look who is toward the top of the list: U.S.A. #6; Germany #8; Japan #10 down to position #21 and that is …. the U.K. Oh, the Bahamas, #35. The only Caribbean nations above us on the list are; Cayman Islands, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Barbados, of course, excluding Barbados the first three are all British Protectorates  and Tax Justice Network reckons you lump the UK in with their protectorates and the UK is far and away the most secretive nation … hohum.

How on earth can we use this? How about evidence that government should drop FATCA into the garbage where it belongs?
