Mr. Barack Obama (D), President if the United States, gave a major speech on education on Thursday past. Of course the devil is in the details, but the following podcast might shine some light on it for you.
My worry is more and more government intrusion in education, when their subsidies might be a major part of the problem already.

In the final, if we're concerned about education, we've got to find a way to get government out of it.
What a revelation, Obama is concerned about education.. Under the progressive education movement, American education has been on the decline as government program after program has failed over the past fifty years.. In 1960, America led the world in secondary education; today it is ranked thirty-third.. American college and university education ranked at the top; today they have fallen to eighteenth in rank.. By any standard of evaluation, this is a record of failure as the quality of education achievement has declined at an accelerating rate..
One trend is obvious and that is increased government influence and interference over the education process.. Another is leftest or collective bias of the teachers unions and university facilities.. Education has become an indoctrination exercise with a declining emphasis on individual creative thinking.. Today many graduates simply lack the fundamental analytical skills necessary to compete in the workplace.. In a nation that professes that “no child should be left behind” it appears that all the nation’s children are being left behind when evaluated on an international scale.. Perhaps it is time for the government and its doctrine of political correctness to get out of the nation’s school systems, and for the schools to return to a liberal arts curriculum which emphasizes individual thinking and achievement.. Of course this will never happen as indoctrination in education is the cornerstone of collective change which is the ultimate goal of government socialism..
Problem with Government is, everything they touch, create or form becomes Governmental and bureaucratic in nature, and attracts the hordes of “affiliates in waiting”
who are no more capable of fixing any societal ill than those who appoint them.
What you are attempting to say is that the smaller the size of government, the better the government.. Almost all WeblogBahamas readers would agree with the significance and meaning of this statement..
The issues the United States confronts in education is far more complex as they have changed the entire direction and values of the country.. At all levels of education and instruction Individualism has given way to the group dynamics of collective judgment.. When students are taught that “social and economic outcomes must be equal” then it may be time to fold up the tent and move on..
As America loses its sense of individual character, its significance in world affairs becomes reduced both in respect and status.. America today is a problem in the world, not the solution..
