I guess "Bahamian Time" is well and truly dead …. I heard Mr. Renward Wells on the news last night (August 14, 2013) to say that all companies that had shown an interest in purchasing all or part of BEC to re-submit their bids for due consideration. This morning (August 15, 2013) I understand our Government has approved a bid from a Far Eastern company to buy the Clifton Pier site, wow, that truly is efficiency gone wild!!! Along with this "sale" I hear shares will be offered to we Bahamians, now if there is one utility Bahamians shouldn't touch with a ten- foot pole it's BEC, come on Mr. Christie give us what we want to invest in, and it was promised to us – Bahamas Telecommunications Company!
Of course another point comes to mind …. Government in the sunshine, transparency, etc. … err …. I didn't know we, as in us Bahamians, had taken any vote to divest ourselves of any more of our national utilities; and, as an aside, I hear more sip sip that Water and Sewerage will not be far behind, with fictional foreign buyers standing in for certain Bahamian entities; as they say, no names no pack drill.

Weblog Bahamas is a blog intended to add to the debate and war of ideas in The Bahamas.
We are several Bahamian Bloggers, and we might not agree with each other all the time.

Frankly I think the sooner the Government divests itself of all utility companies the better.
What they say in Oppostion is often at variance to the policies they undertake while in Government.
It’s called doublespeak.
