Too often those who find ourselves espousing views that are diametrically opposed, forget that there is a human component and issues of humanity that all of us have to deal with, regardless of our personal peeves. I have been on a run of late, where I seem to wake up thinking about the Prime Minister, forgetting that his name is Perceval Gladstone Christie, a father, a son, a husband, an uncle and a friend. The fact that he is leader of a political party and the elected leader of this nation is sometimes forgotten by those of us with very acute nationalistic intentions, who go about the business of keeping those elected to office on the straight and narrow.
This letter is a pause. A pause to consider the fact that while there may be some who may be able to do a better job than he is doing, it is he who doing the job at present, and even though we may find ourselves at odds with some of the decisions he makes we cannot forget that he needs our prayers and support as a sanctioned being, and Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. I am also a resident in his constituency.
We are called to pray for those in authority that it may go well with the nation. Let us take some time out in this day, this week and the year, to pray for those in authority.

I find it curious that we (citizens) must act civilised and responsibly and many in the political class can do what they do with impunity.
Rick, the Bahamas have become a two-tier society.. What is left of the so-called Middle Class is fallen through the cracks into subsistence poverty.. About ten percent of the country is represented in the form of the bureaucratic class and its ruling political elite and supporters.. The rest of our population make up the masses or worker class that just follow the dictates of the political elite.. This represents the ongoing failure of democracy as political laxity allows demigods and tyrants to take political power and extend control over the people through increases in taxation and the expansion of regulatory control.. This is sold to the people under the banner of “social reform” for the benefit of the people, but in reality it is only a tightening of political and economic control.. Only the the political elite class benefit as wealth and power is further consolidated for their own personal benefit at the expense of the public-at-large.. The emergence of political Dictatorship is the last step in the progression to tyranny.. It is happening now in both the United States and in our Bahamas, but we are to blind to see it and to indoctrinated to recognize the crisis that confronts our destiny….
Perhaps prayer for the people who must endure our current “leadership” would suit prayers purpose better.
Ironic we are discussing this on Emancipation day……
Were we really?
Yes, The Oracle, we should consider those that must endure the edicts and many would say the antics, of the Government.
Even I would consider saying a prayer about that!
