On Saturday morning we had a great treat, kayaking around the Bahamas National Trust's Bonefish Pond.
It was a beautiful morning and we actually saw a tri-coloured heron "colony" for lack of a better explanation. We counted seven or eight of the herons of various ages and then stumbled upon a nest with two babies. Incredible!!!
My only regret is I didn't have the nerve to carry my good camera and telephoto lens.
Hope there will be another occasion soon…

By the way, you don't need a kayak to visit Bonefish Pond. There is a great boardwalk.

We were lucky enough to be invited along with friends that have two kayaks.
I wonder if there is an entrepreneur that has kayaks that might organise things in conjunction with the BNT?
It was fabulous.
Rick – we are in discussion with several potential operators. We are planning currently the construction of a kayak launching facility to accommodate this. And of course we need to have restrooms and most importantly a staff presence for visitor safety. Thanks for visiting and sharing this.
