Sometimes we ought to be ashamed of ourselves.
According to the powers that be, one day foreigners are bad – like during the last election campaign – and the next, foreigners like Peter Nygard is their host.
It is unclear to me why government officials would want to be seen and video taped much less at Nygard's home when the entire country knows he has petitioned them to back date approval for his reportedly reclaiming of land surrounding his property at Simms Point, near Lyford Cay, New Providence. In other words there was allegedly no approval granted to fill the water in to extend his property.
According to Rev Moss, “Mr Nygard is having too much to say in the business of the Bahamian people. If he made a request to lease the land, he should wait and see what the government will do, but it seems as though he is badgering the government.
“One thing is certain, the government of the Bahamas needs to state to Bahamians what they will do regarding what belongs to us. Do you know how many people have made requests for Crown land and years later, and hundreds of people later, they haven’t heard one thing?”
Many Bahamians might recall the uproar back in 2010 about a "foreigner" being granted permission to dredge a harbor on his property of less than 0.0035% of the Exuma Park, yet there is almost stone cold silence from those same folks on Nygard's property that has “almost doubled in size” – as if by magic – "from 3.25 acres in 1984 – when Mr Nygard bought it – to 6.1 acres by 2012."
As Henry Ellison said in 1875; "O Faith .. The disbelieving world would sell thee so; / Head turned with sophistries, and heart grown cold, / For a vile mess of pottage it would throw / Away thy heritage, and count the gold!"
Mr. Moss is correct that the Government needs to answer the questions on this matter, and yes, sometimes we should be ashamed of ourselves.

The more I look into this game we call politics,
the more my instincts tell me to run like hell in the opposite direction!
No sane mind, with any sense of Right and wrong, good and evil could get involved no matter the altruistic intent.
This is the stuff of bad news and foul air.
Sad thing is, whatever goes down here affects us all.
We are on one hell of a road.
Shame would indicate a conscience,
an attribute most lacking in our so called leadership.
Sad thing is that they do not even seem to know that the mischief they get themselves into is unethical or immoral.
Seems their justification is their mere existence.
That we all Vote for them, even if voting on the principal or the lesser of two evils does not excuse a one of us,
perhaps merely indicating our collective lack of ethic?
Go Figure,
The truth will out.
Hi Rick,
Please see my riposte to the above piece about Rev Moss … it’s about time these guys were discouraged (and actively so) from meddling in the affairs of State; they have enough on their hands!
Posted to show up tomorrow S3S.
However, on balance Mr/Rev Moss is correct in this case.
