This piece in the Nassau Guardian, quoting Mr. Philip Davis (PLP), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Works as saying that "all of us must come together again to make a concerted effort to stop this scourge of crime" is an eye opener.
I'm not sure when the political class has allowed us to come together on this issue.
In fact it was Mr. Davis political party that planted the seed of division on crime when they implied the former government was responsible for the crimes being committed during their election campaign last year.
And now that one of his security detail has been shot, his admonitions take a different turn.
Of course we need to come together on helping solve crime, but there were many people highly offended by Mr. Davis comments on crime only a short 14 months ago.
Maybe a retraction would help our society respond differently?
Many in our political class seem stuck in a morass of doublespeak.
Is there any wonder so many things are dysfunctional?
Things are dysfunctional, because people are dysfunctional.
Why? Political paralysis, Political allegiances, Political appointees, Nepotism and political cronyism.
Fix what with them tools?
We have engineered the perfect Rube Goldberg!
So many titled, self important people running around doing absolutely nothing and getting paid to do so!
If it weren’t so sad it could be the subject of a phenomenal parody/comedy of Life in these fair Isles.
We have no idea what we are doing when it comes to the problem of our growing crime wave.. Government can juggle the statistics, but the absolute numbers give us the truth.. To ask for assistance from the United States, the godfathers of crime and corruption, is outright foolishness.. Our government has become a master of double talk as we Bahamians choke on the thoughtless and empty excuses that amount to nothing more than alibis for a failed government.. We better start facing the facts that our country is in shambles and the economy is rapidly heading for failure..
