What else can we expect when there is a complete lack of consistent, basic human theology that is essential to societal Governance, harmonic human co-existence and progress?
(Economic progress, which is human progress, not what passes for progress these days, which is absolutely regressive)
Each and every statement, action and reaction serves only to add more layers of confusion, double speak and outright insanity on the face of it.
Once all the other supporting and countering voices chime in, all that is left is mindless muck!
The few sane rational voices are easily drowned out.
If 80% of the population goes with the flow, “feels it” instead of thinking about it, believes someone will look after them,
cannot discern a foul wind blowing,
get used to the stench.
Civilizations have come and gone, many we know about, perhaps many we do not,
but all of them immolated themselves by forgetting the true and natural ground rules of any society that serves the needs of people, and rightly allows individualism/Innovation which in turn serves the greater good, if allowed to flourish.
Quite frankly, I’d say we are right where we should be, where we deserve to be, based on our consistent actions over the last 40 years, which by the way is parallel in many ways with the consistent actions of other cultures past and present, currently going downhill.
Some faster than others, some with more resources to burn, but immolating none the less.

What world is Christie living in because its not the same one that most people are in,can’t be.The Oracle is right,we are right where we should be or maybe deserve to be based on our actions. Ingraham deserves some of the blame as well.
Yes, Overtaxed, The Oracle is usually spot on, and possibly every politicians that has “served the people” deserve some of the blame.
I don’t recall too many of them objecting to the policies that have created this mess over the years.

Indeed, ‘The Bahamas (is in dire) need (of) new and innovative ideas’; any idiot should be able to surmise that, given the steady downward trend of a country in which there is not one (full) higher education institution; the average age of a firm is >24 years old; the average public school grade hovers around a ‘D’; we celebrate unionism (an anachronism in capitalist societies); and are governed by ‘yellow-bellies’ who are so paralysed by fear when it comes to the Electorate, they never make or postpone tough decisions for future generations.
Problem is where do we find these innovative ideas when the same tired, battle-weary lot of Politicians have ruled for the better part of 40 years and the same old tired ‘captains of industry’ are rolled out whenever there are issues of national importance to be debated?
I, for one, have no reason whatsoever to celebrate this 10th July; instead I will be mourning for our country and thinking of what might have been ….:(:(
Wouln’t be so bad if the “yellow Bellies” were just paralyzed by a fear of the Electorate, people could then at least go about their business without interference.
The problem is the Civil Service has become down right uncivil and a corruption all on its own!
Not a one of them actually understands the premise for their existence, but most are quick to deny the required stamp or facilitation.
Coupled with the handout demanded standard,
one would be a fool to try to start something new.
As for the Captains of industry, most have become Captains of the Status quo.
Some of the deals that have been cut are etched in Granite, buried so deep and so entrenched that they are de-facto monuments to short shortsightedness and self service.
Maybe what we need is a revolution,a business revolution.All business people need to march on parliament,it seems to work for the unions.The people in Brazil have decided they have had enough of it,do the people of the Bahamas have the guts or do they feel the same way the government does.I say enough is enough,I am looking for a way out of this place.Everywhere has their share of problems but for the most part they at least have laws & a justice system which we do not in my opinion.
A Private sector revolution will only occur when the majority of people in business decide they have more to gain than lose by doing so.
We ain’t there yet.
No, unfortunately we are still too comfortable, even if financially challenged, family networks won’t let the alchoholic or crack head in the family starve.

Maybe the big boys like being taxed to death but I sure don’t.If we are all being lumped in together then we need a fair tax simple & easy.Even to the point of having to pay duty on In-land freight my goodness that is stealing as far as I’m concerned out-right stealing & its only getting worse.Its like they don’t have the sense they were born with if any.
