Rest in Peace Lady Thatcher. 1925 – 2013

image from static.guim.co.ukJohn Blundell, updated his column "Thatcher put 'Great' in Great Britain" in the USA Today and does her proud.

Here's a snippet:

"To sum up the secret of Lady T, in addition to having the right ideas you have to have a strong moral compass; you simplify your message; while leading you always listen; have policies that go with the grain of human nature; think through strategy ahead of time; build good teams; use circumstances; make great allies; prepare before you are in power; and have patience."

Her correct title is ‘Baroness’ but at least, unlike my my favourite City AM Blogger (Alistair Heath, p.2) this morning, at least we got the spelling of ‘peace’ right ….:):)

It’s very, very interesting indeed, to listen to comments on Thatcher’s legacy, here in the UK.
To say she polarised opinion in Britain is to understate her impact (industry and most politicians readily cite her transformational quality but last night, there was unrest in Brixton – a South London neighbourhood that experienced riots in the ’80’s – to ‘celebrate her death’).
This is an odd chance really to be able to assess decision, actions and policies after 30 years of evidence. So, the Tory liberal economists are lining up to laud her, while Labour is making guarded staements about her legacy.
What they seem to all agree on, though, is that she transformed forever three obstacles to progress in Britain in the late 1970’s:
    1. a too-comfortable class of ‘smug professionals’
    2. a bloated and ineffective ‘civil service’
    3. ‘powerful trades unions’
Do we see any parallels with The Bahamas ????

I wish we had her & Churchill & Regan today

That’s not what they’re saying here in Great Britain, Dennis.
I suspect some people did not know how far the country had declined before 1980.
As I imply above with my question, there are eerie parallels with our Bahamas, which is in dire need of transformation before its too late!

Certainly worth a read to put all in perspective.

Like she said S3S,the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of people to take money from & I think we are past that mark now.

Jimmy Cliff has a song that says “Every tub gotta sit on its own bottom & every man gotta stand on his own two feet” He says helping people who are down is one thing but they must stand on their own. With the direction we are headed in, soon there will be no one left to help the down because the government is taxing us all down & out for the count! Lady Thatcher was a huge believer of self reliance, Obama is just the opposite. Sit back & take a look at the differences & you tell me which you would prefer.

Today we say good bye to one of the greatest leaders in the 20th century.. The Russians called her the “Iron Lady” which reflected her resolve and strength in foreign policy.. She was a visionary that gave Britain a breath of hope at a time her country was falling deeper into the void of socialism and state control from the cradle to the grave.. How wonderful to come from such humble beginnings to become the first woman and one of the longest serving Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.. She brought respect to her nation and played an important role in changing the direction of world history.. He influence will never be forgotten by freedom loving man and woman around the world.. She was a beacon of hope.. Leaders from around the world have journeyed to pay their last respects to Lady Margaret Thatcher who was an icon of her time.. Yet at this time of remembrance, the notable absence of an official delegation from the United States is not only petty but is disgraceful.. Their absence is a show of disrespect and places the administration at the same level as the street hooligans and lowlifes that turn their backs on the funeral procession in protest.. Rest in peace Lady Thatcher.. Your greatest and influence will NEVER be forgotten by freedom loving people of the world..
