Here's a quick list of some of the things that we will probably pay 15% tax on:
Electricty,
Water & Sewerage
Telephone,
Cable,
Internet,
Household Insurance,
Automobile Insurance,
General Repairs,
Electrician Services,
Plumbing Services,
Housewares,
Lumber,
Cement,
Paint,
Let's face it, this will have a dramatic impact on discretionary spending.
While we await clarification from the Government, what can you add to the list?

Okay I was hoping you would join in.
How about taxes on;
Dr. Visits,
Car repairs,
Lawyer visits,
Accounting services.
Where does it end?
Easier to just say everything except Medical and School fees? oh yeah and financial.
At least these were three “carve outs” mentioned, but I’m sure individuals, associations and special interests are lobbying as we type!
Which is why no taxation is ever “fair” no matter the target.( someones $$)
notwithstanding the political address on the Evils of Exemptions, I’m sure there will be many more, which will defeat the whole exercise.
Idiots. Full and complete Idiots.
Lets face it, VAT stands for Very Awful Tax.. It only fills the coffers of the political elite classs at the expense of the Bahamian masses.. It is government for the government, by the government and about the government and will be another step on the road to economic self-destruction..
Can anyone cite an example where the VAT has increased a nation’s prosperty and economic stability?? I think not.. Most are the basket case economies of today that are rapidly going into self-imposed bankruptcy.. Will this be our future; lets hope its not..
