For some reason many people justifiably get outraged at corporations that are "found out" but continually let government (or its agencies) action off the proverbial hook.
Autonomous Mind, a blog from the UK is always thought provoking, and their post earlier today, entitled, The UK has no business being part of the vile United Nations is certainly that.
It draws on Christopher Booker's recent article at The Telegraph, and both posts are worth a gander.
Christopher Booker says:
"Ten days ago the senior Vice-President of the European Parliament, Alejo Vidal-Quadras, who is also president of the International Committee in Search of Justice, wrote to Ban Ki-moon. asking him to launch a full investigation into the “deception and concealment” by his personal representative in Iraq, and the treatment of the inhabitants of Ashraf (now renamed Camp New Iraq), which appears to be in clear breach of “all the values the UN has been built upon”. To support his case, Vidal-Quadras included a copy of the unpublished draft report, revealing just how grievously the inhabitants of Ashraf were made the victims of an “obvious deception”.
Autonmous Mind says:
"Leaving the UN won’t happen all the while the political class directs operations in its own interest, but it should happen. This country has no place cooperating with the most brutal, vicious and corrupt regimes on this planet, much less legitimising their vile behaviour with our money co-membership on UN bodies."
Mr. Booker's article also focusses attention on reports of the UK Met Office quietly changed their graph on global temperature predictions.
Here's a quote:
"Some of this story may be familiar – how on Christmas Eve the Met Office sneaked on to its website a revised version of the graph it had posted a year earlier showing its prediction of global temperatures for the next five years. Not until January 5 did sharp-eyed climate bloggers notice how different this was from the graph it replaced. When the two graphs were posted together on Tallbloke’s Talkshop, this was soon picked up by the Global Warming Policy Foundation which whizzed it around the media."
