There's a very interesting project that has recently popped up on the local art scene and it's called The Bahamian Project: Preserving The Legacy of Bahamian Life.
The web site for The Bahamian Project tells us:
"The goal of the Project is to create a permanent collection of photographs to provide recognition, foster cultural awareness and create a record of the people who make The Bahamas so unique."
"At the end of the first year, the NAGB will host an exhibition of the photographs as part of their programming scheduled for the 40th Anniversary of the The Bahamas’ Independence. There are also plans to publish a high-quality coffee table book with the final images, information on the portrait subjects and behind-the-scenes photographs of the production."
Some of the people to be photographed for the portrait gallery include: George Cox, Pam Burnside, Richard Coulson, Sir Durward Knowles, Chippie Chipman, Peanuts Taylor, Count Bernadino, Max Taylor, Vola Francis.
