President Obama and his warning to The Bahamas

by Rick Lowe

"PRESIDENT Obama has issued a list of nations contributing to drug production or transit – and named The Bahamas as one of those considered a major part in the drug trade.

"In a presidential memorandum, he said: “I hereby identify the following countries as major drug transit and/or major illicit drug producing countries: Afghanistan, The Bahamas, Belize, Bolivia, …

And the list goes on. Read the entire article here…

The memorandum goes on to say that being on this list is "not necessarily an adverse reflection of its government’s counternarcotics efforts or level of co-operation with the United States."

As most Bahamians know, there are US DEA Officers aboard the helicopters that "interdict" drug shipments through our waters and bound for the US, so in effect they are in charge of our efforts here, yet find the ink to include us on this list?

Of course Mr. Obama is responding like his predecessors, but he was to be different I thought?

It obviously costs the US taxpayer a fortune to maintain their efforts to prevent the importation of illicit drugs into their country so it's about time they took Peter Tosh's advise and "Legalise It".

What's your take?

Every year we hear the same old “name and shame” pronouncements which comes from the largest consumer nation of illegal drugs on Earth.. Everyone knows that this President once was a consumer himself.. Perhaps his finger should be pointed at himself.. Judge yourself first before you dare to sit in judgment others.. One does not want to be found guilty of the same charges that ones adjudicator is also guilty off..
One often wonders in all fairness as to why there isn’t another list of the major consuming countries of illegal drugs?? Perhaps the truth of reality would be self-defeating as the age old principle in economics that demand creates its own supply is the real issue for debate.. God forbid that to ever happen in this day and age of restricted and politically correct speech..
In all fairness, the report cited that only about five percent of illegal drug trafficking moves through the Caribbean with the balance passing through Mexico.. Given a closer look at the numbers, one can conclude that about one percent or less of trafficking passes through the Bahamas for the American market.. We can only say well done Bahamas, and it is now time to point the finger of guilt at the United States where its moral foundation is under attack.. To cited the Bahamas that has been and is today a strong ally in the war on drugs is both preposterous and absurd.. We as a nation can take great pride in our country’s continuing efforts to stop flow the illegal drug trafficking from passing through our island nation..

I hereby declare Obama to be the number one idiot socialist in the world from this day forth, so said,so done. This from someone who can’t even speak without a teleprompter, what has the world come to.

  3. Rick Lowe's avatar Rick Lowe says:

Oh no, he’s definitely not an idiot.
Socialist yes but idiot? Not at all. He is very calculating.

  4. Dennis's avatar Dennis says:

A calculating socialist is a very dangerous thing. He is taking America & the world for that matter down a bad path. I don’t understand the press in the US, it took telamundo, a foreign station to ask some tough questions that he still did not answer, where is the press?

Fathom the hypocrisy of Obama as he supports a drug policy that is destroying the youth of so many nations including America.
To paraphrase Milton Friedman quoting Oliver Cromwell:
“I beseech you in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken” – about the course of the US Drug Policy.
    Will they never learn?

Hay folks, the issue here is not Obama’s numerous failures which are far to many to numerate.. The real issue is that the United States continuous to “name and shame” the Bahamas along with the kingpins of the international drug trade Mexico, Columbia and Afghanistan.. Yet today, only one percent or less of illegal drugs pass through the Bahamas compared to Mexico which has almost ninety-five percent according to the recently released report.. Instead of congratulating our nation, we again are only cited on the list as a drug transporting country..
In the United States, drug addiction continues to be on the rise as the Mexican cartels have expanded into well over 150 cities, forming de facto or underground offices to mass market their products of addiction, self-destruction and death.. In South Florida today, there are over eighty-three gangs of foreign origins that are active in the distribution of illegal drugs.. One would think that that is where the President’s finger should be pointing directly at the Mexican cartels who now operate aggressively from within the United States..

True Tradewinds & obama basically ignores it because of the guns for money fiasco that eric holder & obama seem to be involved in up to their necks, another thing that the press is ignoring altogether. If this would have been a republican president he would have been forced to resign by now.
