Political discussion seems juvenile

by Rick Lowe

Whenever I listen to or read so called political discussion there is seldom any comments relating to actual public policy.

Oh, there's lots of heat,  but no light as the old saying goes.

This person is bad or that person is good. One guy cares about people, the other doesn't.

Or we'll read members of one political party going on and on about the internal workings of the other, meanwhile his/her party is no different.

So much of what counts as political discussion is an absolute waste of energy and is meaningless and seldom has any bearing on governance.

It's rare that anyone discusses the impact of government policies, like Road Traffic forcing you to pay cash when licensing your vehicles for example or what effect government spending, deficits and borrowing on citizens of the future etc.

So while we concern ourselves with absolute trivialities our country, (and by extension all of us), is progressively worse off.

It all seems so juvenile.

What's your take?
