According to a Nassau Guardian report, Dr. Bernard Nottage, Minister of National Security reported a drop in the crime rate (Crime rate falls, August 2, 2012)
Led by a 65% decline in attempted rapes reported, murders are down 14%.
According to Dr. Nottage, "Between May 8 and the end of this month…murders are down by 24 percent, rapes are down by six percent, attempted rapes by 56 percent, unlawful sexual intercourse by 43 percent, (and) armed robbery is up [by 49 percent],”.
Regretfully doubt is cast on the overall report because certain categories of crime that were previously reported (attempted murder, attempted robbery or stealing from vehicles) were left out.
Obviously though there are some good signs. Let's hope it continues.
Why couldn't the Police do this before?
Thats bull. you can’t belive its beacuse the new government, if thats the cash, armed robbery going up by almost 50% is their fault also which will lead to assult then murder.
Its all bull to them, all bull. Its like this, look up BS in the dictionary & the description is “politician”,especially “Bahamian politician”. They think we all have stupid printed on our forehead. When they solve the murder of Sylvia Cates in Rock sound (they sure came to the funeral)then they can talk to me about crime, until then, keep their mouths shut.
