Was Chrissy Love fired for her political views?

Rick Lowe

One e-mail claims it was PLP victimization that ZNS cancelled Chrissy Love's contract and the other says rather politely that "ZNS suspends Immediate Response" today.

Chrissy Love is said to be a supporter of the FNM and has said some uncomplimentary things about the PLP so she had to be removed from the public broadcasting station.

There were similar circumstances surrounding the firing or cancelling the contract of Steve McKinney when the FNM won the government in 2007.

Back then the FNM was accused of victimization.

So we've come full circle with each governing party being accused of victimization and each time the defense is that supporters of the Opposition should not be heard on the state owned radio or TV station.

But what balderdash. Unless the person is charged with libel or the like, and there is a legal process to deal with that, the state owned radio or TV should allow all points of view to be aired.

The immaturity of our so-called statesmen is telling. The fact is over 43% of the voters supported the Opposition and over 48% of the voters supported the party that now governs and this should encourage some sort of balance with these issues?

One solution is to have two hosts. One that supports the government and one that opposes instead of this childish approach to broadcasting.

    Same old PLP but,
the FNM is just as adept at the same tricks.
Both now have a few new faces but we are quick to predispose either to their shared habitual hijinks.
Which only goes to show, People of sensibility shouldn’t support either, but become more of an independent consciousness for the nation.
A choosing for the lesser of two evils is still
    Choosing an evil.

THERE WAS NO NEED TO FIRE CHRISSY LOVE, SHE WAS BEAUTIFULLY OPEN, MAYBE MADE A FEW COMMENTS FOR THE FNM, BUT MOST WAS EASY GOING AND A HAPPY SHOW TO LISTEN TO…
A SAD MISTAKE..POLITICS SHOULD NOT EVER BE SO INVOLVED IN FIRING A HOST RADIO TALK SHOW….STUPID MOVE?

If an employee outright tells the boss he/she hates their organization, what do you think would happen? Chrissy Love did nothing but spew out venom against the PLP, even going so far as to proclaim her hatred for them over the airwaves (I heard her for myself).
After the PLP won Chrissy seemed to have this bitter agenda against them and continued her insults and innuendos. One could tell she had absolutely no further interest to work for ZNS. I believe she wanted to go.
While there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a political view, I believe a public figure such as she should be fair and unbiased, which she was not. She constantly criticized the PLP while vehemently praising the FNM as if they have never done any wrong. Please don’t forget Steve McKinney and Philippa “Lady” Russel.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting Ginger.
The post speaks to the fact that Steve McKinney was fired under similar circumstances.
Does it make it right for any of them to be fired because they differ with the government on public policy?
The point is ALL Bahamians pay taxes to keep ZNS going, so ALL views should be tolerated.

I understand that a number of pastors supporting the PLP held special prayer meetings in support of the PLP to win the election. That is good, but why have they not joined together and prayed against the violence within the nation? Could it be that they do not want the violence to stop? Are they not compassionate for the lost of lives on our streets within our communities? How can one pray for a party of men and women and not ask God to intervene to bring an end to the criminal activities that is destroying the nation? Or do they believe that crime will be eradicated by the miracle power of the PLP?
