The Nassau Institute has an interesting event coming up with a presentation by Dr. Art Carden, of Rhodes College.

The topic is The Economic Way of Thinking and Milton Friedman.

When: Thursday, May 10, 2012, 6:30pm.

Where: The Humidor Churrascaria Restaurant, West Hill Street
Tickets $75 per person, cash bar.

Event: Cocktails (cash bar opens at 6:00pm) will be served until 7:00pm when we will enjoy a "Brazillian-style gastronomic tour." "Gaucho waiters will serve you a never-ending variety of succulent meats, slow roasted on Humidor Churrascaria's giant rotisserie hearth spit."

Dinner will be followed by Dr. Carden's presentation.

Theme of speech: Why not capitalism? Free markets and liberty are at the root of prosperity. One of our era's most articulate defenders of freedom was the late Milton Friedman. In this talk, we will discuss the tradition of liberty as it is discussed in some of Friedman's work, and we will explore some of the important themes in this tradition since the time of Adam Smith.
