Jethro Tull – Song of the week – April 2, 2012 – Beside Myself (Live)

Rick Lowe

Jethro Tull is touring again and playing the entire Thick as a Brick and its recently released sequel live.

We first got to see them in 1977 or so and while front man Ian Anderson put on his usual fantastic performance, it was at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. A hockey stadium not known for acoustics shall we say.

With any luck we'll get to see Mr. Anderson and his troupe sometime this year in a more intimate setting.

Visit their web site here… and please buy some of their material.

There's so much to choose from with Tull, but if you're going to buy one of their live albums try Live at Montreaux 2003. It's just great from the opening harmonica chord so to speak.

I rather like Beside Myself (live) , originally from their 1995 album Roots to Branches. It's quite moving in this live setting and I hope you enjoy it too.

  1. Spooky – we appear to have very similar musical tastes… Or just of the same era, maybe. ‘Benefit’ is probably my favourite JT album, though I realise it wouldn’t be everyone’s choice. All right, hardly anybody’s… ATB RH

  2. Rick Lowe's avatar Rick Lowe says:

Actually Benefit has some great stuff on it. Teacher was one if I remember.
The 1970’s was a great time for music in my view.
