   Professor Lawson’s words may be directed at the United States but they apply equally to the Bahamas as well.. A combination of over regulation, excessive government tax burdens and bureaucratic incompetence has literally closed the doors of economic opportunity to many of us Bahamians..
   The end result of this political and economic foolishness is a growing tendency away from individual self-sufficiency and a greater dependency on government public assistance.. Today this appears to be like a bottomless pit where there is no escape from the control of government.. One wonders what will happen to us when the government’s credit card is voided and the faucet runs dry..
