Mr. Branville McCartney mixing metaphors?

Rick Lowe

Mr. McCartney, leader of the latest foray into a new political party, the DNA, has reportedly announced that "God is guiding" his party.

I'm sure in one of the early pages of the Bahamian political handbook there is a note that says a politician must invoke God's name, but even non-christians are starting to feel revolted by this mockery.

By the way, it was Adam Smith, the so called founder of modern economics that spoke about an invisible hand that "guides" the economy. I don't think it was Matthew, Mark, Luke or John or any of the other Biblical scribes.

As if evoking a spiritual leaders name during a political rally is not enough, Mr. McCartney then decides to mix metaphors to confuse things even more.

Seems to be a really steep learning curve involved in this thing called politics?

I believe the DNA is walking on thin ice just as the political climate in the Bahamas is beginning to heat up.. One must be careful when making sweeping references to God within a political context.. Most Bahamians believe that we are a blessed country which means that we as a nation are guided and protected by our Creator.. This belief is all inclusive in nature and is not limited to a specific group or class of people..
Responsible Bahamians should be concerned by such pronouncements as it brings to mind a sense of divine right or having a godlike nature in purpose.. No individual, political party or faction should claim to be directed by God’s will as that is the sole province of the divine and not mankind.. Praying for divine guidance may be highly appropriate, but to pronounce that “God is guiding” a political movement is most improper.. Have we forgotten that God is all inclusive and that God’s grace is not limited in scope and nature..
