Libya is a war, regardless of the Doublethink

Rex Murphy, a Canadian author among other things offers commentary weekly on CBC TV’s The National, and is host of CBC Radio’s Cross Country Checkup, but this article for Full Comment at Canada's National Post is just brilliant.

Here's a snippet to whet your appetite.

"Also, the intervention was to last, in Mr. Obama’s own words, “days, not weeks.” It also gave us what is perhaps the most brilliant evasion that the White House, through its mouthpieces, has ever offered an inquiring world: that the President was “leading from behind.” Leading from behind — there’s a winner, a tactical novelty that will surely earn Mr. Obama a place beside Clausewitz and Sherman.

"From the beginning, of course, all knew it would be awkward for Mr. Obama to go to war. He is, after all, a Nobel Peace medallist. And three wars at once is a little crowded even for the myopic Nobel committee. It was instead, said the spokespeople, “a kinetic military action.” Somewhere Orwell, rotating in his dusty vault, is weeping.

It is apparent the President of the United States has no respect for the Constitution he swore to uphold and defend.. A “kinetic military action” is the most unbelievable excuse for military confrontation I have ever heard.. Then to say that this military action has been turned over to NATO is just another excuse and lie for a failed foreign policy in the Middle East.. The United States pays over seventy percent of the costs of maintaining the NATO alliance.. Today the United States IS the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) so lets not fool ourselves with the stuff and nonsense that comes out of the Washington..
War is war and right now the United States is involved in at least three wars not counting the war on terrorism.. Today the United States is on the verge of economic bankruptcy, and its vast military presence has been spread so thin that the nation’s military goals (what ever they may be) are destined to possible failure..
In any country, sound national leadership requires both experience, honest and good judgment; elements that are greatly lacking in the leadership of America today.. Let hope for the sake of all that constructive change will be on the way in 1012..

The quality of life and security for the citizens has been largely restored and we are a large part of why that has happened.

    Thanks for commenting Mr. Caracilo
It remains to be seen if “life and security for the citizens has been largely restored” of course, but the real point is the Libyan exercise is war, and nothing less.
Now Libya will be “occupied” like the other countries there and as some critics say, create more resentment against the US.
In addition to that, I’m wondering where the anti-war crowd has gone since Mr. Obama arrived in office?
Were they all simply Bush haters and they really don’t have an objection to war?
