Rick Lowe
I was reminded about Mick Ronson while digitizing some of my old albums recently. A live Ian Hunter double album entitled Welcome to the Club to be precise.
Mick Ronson has collaborated with people like David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Ian Hunter, Van Morrison, Lou Reed and Roger Daltrey just to name a few. This is beside his solo career.
I remember him mostly as the lead guitarist for David Bowie.
Any way I had forgotten I had two albums by him, the 1974 release Slaughter on 10th Avenue and the 1975 release Play Don’t Worry and they both have some very interesting tracks. The former has a neat version of Elvis Presley’s Love Me Tender, while the latter has a english version of G. Bagioni’s Io Me Ne Andrei, with lyrics by Ronson.
Visit a web site dedicated to him here… (unfortunately he died in 1993), and please buy some of his material.
I hope you enjoy Growing Up and I’m Fine from Slaughter on 10th Avenue.
