In this response… to fellow blogger about his post… I incorrectly stated he said "in order for the government to eliminate the budget deficit they should simply tax the rich more in the form of higher property tax."
What he said was "collecting outstanding taxes–such as $400 million in property taxes–could reduce and/or eliminate the budget deficit." Of course people should be made to pay their outstanding taxes. No argument from me here.
I apologise to Mr. Gibson for my confusion.
However his article on the performance of the Junior Minister of Finance one of his points suggests "It is high-time that taxes are applied to, and raised (following the
American format), on the wealthy…" This supports my point that the gist of the piece gave me the impression he wants to put an even larger tax burden on those that might be making a profit or well off.
My argument is that government over-spending is the problem and Mr. Gibson misses this important piece of the puzzle.
