In Defense of Israel

On May 14, 1948, after 2000 years of Jewish dispersal, and after 55 years of efforts to create a Jewish homeland, the state of Israel was born.

The years since independence have been marked by conflict with neighboring Arab states and Palestinian-Arabs. After many negotiations peace was achieved with Egypt and Jordan. Their democracy has survived and they have built a prosperous country from the desert that they found 62 years ago despite war, ethno-religious conflicts, boycotts, mass immigration and terror attacks.

Israel and Egypt have maintained a blockade of the Gaza strip since 2007 to prevent the smuggling of arms to Hamas which they would use to terrorize the people of Israel. When it was challenged recently the usual Israel bashers were out in force because Israel was "preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid".

Fred Leder of Israeli Flix video has released a video showing the unloading of the M/S Mavi Marmara vessel in the Israeli port of Ashdod, behind the bags of flour were boxes of heavy weapons and ammunition: mortars, artillery shells, bazookas.

Early this week Helen Thomas, who has been a member of the White House press corps since the 196o's, was questioned about the blockade and she made the incredibly stupid statement that "the Israelis are in occupied country and they should all go back to Poland and Germany." This daughter of Lebanese immigrants to the United States not only made a reprehensible statement but showed her profound ignorance of Jewish history.

    Thank you for getting this subject aired.
    I must admit I am often perplexed as to why the hatred of the Jews.
    I can only surmise it is because they are usually successful with their endeavors.

    Perhaps also because of their very long contiguous history, and that they have never decimated/subjugated/enslaved any other peoples along their path?
    I may stand corrected, but, do they not stand tall because of this?
    So there were arms found on those ships?
    I was away and not paying attention for the last week.

    Rick.. The real issue may be why do so many Jews hate other Jews as well as their supporters.. Today this attitude is very prevalent in the United States.. Just look, for example, at their continued support of Obamaism.. He is certainly not a friend of Israel.. Just look at the shameful way he treated their Prime Minister.. How can a single Jew continue to support Obama is beyond belief.. Perhaps money does speaks louder than spiritual values.. This too is totally beyond me…

    So true Tradewinds.I think in the case of Obama,its because he IS a Muslim & we know what Muslims think of the Jews.I fully support Israel in their endeavor to protect themselves from these terrorists, & that’s all they are pure & simple terrorists.As a matter of fact, I think that’s all the UN is, a terrorist organization because that is who makes up the UN, for crying out loud,at one point Omar Gadaphy was the head of human rights at the UN !What in the hell is wrong with the world today ? I ask you this, if they were trying to get to PI to bomb innocent people in Nassau, would you not stop them ? The only friend the US has in that area is Israel & Obama & his team are treating them like crap.Obama has to go, he is incompetent to the core & supports terrorists in my opinion.All this political correctness crap has got to stop.Bush might have done some stuff I did not care for, but I know one thing for sure is, he did what was best for his country that he loves,which is far more than I can say for Obama.Like the billboard sign said of Bush “Miss me yet” !

    The Jews are hated because they are God’s chosen people. Israel will be hated and persecuted until God is ready to set them free. At God’s chosen time the armies of Russia aligned with other Arab Nations including Iran will attack Israel and these armies will be destroyed by God himself. There will be no real peace until God’s chosen time. As for Helen Thomas am I not surprised.

    Someone sent this to me & it makes so much sense. want to share with all of you what Pilar Rahola says in this writing. She says it so much better than I could…and I’ve been wanting to write about this. The big question for me is…what’s happening in the world that the media and other organizers/protesters don’t see this?
    I feel, very strongly, that if we, Jew and non-Jew, are going survive the unrest throughout the world and the powerful and fanatical dictatorships and all they represent, then we need to really address Pilar’s last comment and clearly understand it.

    And then, to the concept of freedom. In every pro Palestinian European forum I hear the left yelling with fervor: “We want freedom for the people!”
    Not true. They are never concerned with freedom for the people of Syria or Yemen or Iran or Sudan , or other such nations. And they are never preoccupied when Hammas destroys freedom for the Palestinians. They are only concerned with using the concept of Palestinian freedom as a weapon against Israeli freedom. The resulting consequence of these ideological pathologies is the manipulation of the press.
    The international press does major damage when reporting on the question of the Israeli-Palestinian issue. On this topic they don’t inform, they propagandize.
    When reporting about Israel , the majority of journalists forget the reporter code of ethics. And so, any Israeli act of self-defense becomes a massacre, and any confrontation, genocide. So many stupid things have been written about Israel , that there aren’t any accusations left to level against her.
    At the same time, this press never discusses Syrian and Iranian interference in propagating violence against Israel ; the indoctrination of children and the corruption of the Palestinians. And when reporting about victims, every Palestinian casualty is reported as tragedy and every Israeli victim is camouflaged, hidden or reported about with disdain.
    And let me add on the topic of the Spanish left. Many are the examples that illustrate the anti-Americanism and anti-Israeli sentiments that define the Spanish left. For example, one of the leftist parties in Spain has just expelled one of its members for creating a pro-Israel w eb site. I quote from the expulsion document: “Our friends are the people of Iran , Libya and Venezuela , oppressed by imperialism, and not a Nazi state like Israel .”
    In another example, the socialist mayor of Campozuelos changed Shoah Day, commemorating the victims of the Holocaust, with Palestinian Nabka Day, which mourns the establishment of the State of Israel, thus showing contempt for the six million European Jews murdered in the Holocaust.
    Or in my native city of Barcelona , the city council decided to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the creation of the State of Israel , by having a week of solidarity with the Palestinian people. Thus, they invited Leila Khaled, a noted terrorist from the 70’s and current leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a terrorist organization so described by the European Union, which promotes the use of bombs against Israel .
    This politically correct way of thinking has even polluted the speeches of president Zapatero. His foreign policy falls within the lunatic left, and on issues of the Middle East , he is unequivocally pro Arab. I can assure you that in private, Zapatero places on Israel the blame for the conflict in the Middle East , and the policies of foreign minister Moratinos reflect this. The fact that Zapatero chose to wear a kafiah in the midst of the L eb anon conflict is no coincidence; it’s a symbol.
    Spain has suffered the worst terrorist attack in Europe and it is in the crosshairs of every Islamic terrorist organization. As I wrote before, they kill us with cell phones hooked to satellites connected to the Middle Ages. An yet the Spanish left is the most anti Israeli in the world.
    And then it says it is anti Israeli because of solidarity. This is the madness I want to denounce in this conference.
    Conclusion:
    I am not Jewish. Ideologically I am left and by profession a journalist. Why am I not anti Israeli like my colleagues? Because as a non-Jew I have the historical responsibility to fight against Jewish hatred and currently against the hatred for their historic homeland, Israel . To fight against anti-Semitism is not the duty of the Jews, it is the duty of the non-Jews.
    As a journalist it is my duty to search for the truth beyond prejudice, lies and manipulations. The truth about Israel is not told. As a person from the left who loves progress, I am obligated to defend liberty, culture, civic education for children, coexistence and the laws that the Tablets of the Covenant made into universal principles.
    Principles that Islamic fundamentalism systematically destroys. That is to say, that as a non-Jew, journalist and lefty, I have a triple moral duty with Israel , because if Israel is destroyed, liberty, modernity and culture will be destroyed too.

    The struggle of Israel , even if the world doesn’t want to accept it, is the struggle of the world.

    On another note, this is another problem that the world is facing right now, not just the Jewish people.Watch this. It’s the first I’ve heard of this plan. Some of the attached links are interesting, also some of the comments are unbelievable.
    Take the few minutes to watch all of this.
