Bahamas Bye-Election Court Case

Rick Lowe

Does the newspaper reports about the Court proceedings on the recent Elizabeth Bye-Election mean we could end with a tie and a run off election?

What a turn of events that would be.

I understand that if the Court rules the election a tie a new poll will have to take place within 14 days.

So what if that's a tie as well?

Someone whispered in my ear that the candidates names will be placed in a hat and a winner would be declared that way.

Oh well, we'll have to wait and see what the Court rules after all the evidence is in.

Fasten your seat belts and put your chair and table in the upright position. This could be very interesting…

The press has been less than accurate in its reporting on the case. But, if a tie, yes a new poll within 14 days by law. I do not think it will be a tie in my opinion.

Will anyone on the register will still be able to vote if the court rules a tie or only the persons who voted in the previous by-election?? I know that doesn’t make anysense but other persons might have the same question..

I’m not a lawyer Objective Thought, but I believe it reverts back to the existing register, that they just voted on as there’s nothing else.
    It could be very interesting.
But this discussion might all be moot depending on what the Justices rule of course.
