Mr. McCartney's resignation from the FNM Government's Cabinet on Sunday raised lots questions yesterday.
Is he angry at Mr. Hubert Ingraham, Prime Minister, for over-ruling him on a recent decision regarding Haitian nationals? Or does he simply need to tend to matters in his Constituency that being a Cabinet Minister will not allow? Or does he really wish to pursue the leadership of the FNM for the 2012 General Elections?
Well there's a lot of speculation, and only Mr. McCartney's knows the real answer. But if the reason is because he's upset with Mr. Ingraham, all I can say is the buck stops with the Prime Minister in our system and someone has to make the final decision. Just like in the corporate setting. Everyone can't be boss on every issue.
As much as your not so humble blogger might disagree with Mr. Ingraham on his policy choices, he does make decisions.
However, there is one positive point I would like to make and that is there is now one less Cabinet post, which if left unfilled will help reduce government expenditure.
I can hear you. How can they leave that important post unfilled? Come on man!
In other words they can simply add that portfolio to that of another Cabinet Minister, to help reduce public expenditure.
The Cabinet of The Bahamas is far too big, the training of young MP's like Mr. McCartney, not withstanding, reducing it makes sense in these tough times.
Then maybe the PM should be the minister for Immigration, that way, he can’t blame anyone else for all of the crap that goes on there, the buck will have to stop with him.Maybe if all these ministers shared some responsibility we could save some money.
Branville McCartney is an arrogant Man who likes to take credit for things he did not accomplish. This country will one day recognize that he has his own selfish agenda and its more about him than Country!!!

Hi. Branville stands for something that he believes in that why he walked out. One man cannot run this country. we need change and branville and the DNA will bring that change in the 2012 election. If more MPs were bold enough to walk out for what they believe this country would be better. In 1965 Sir Lynden Pindling threw the mase out of the house of assembly for change and in 2010 branville McCartney walked out for change…

Mr. Obama campaigned on this magical word “change” and what has he done to improve things?
The rhetoric of politicians must be challenged.
We know what is wrong, tell us how it will be fixed please.
For example, the only way the debt can be paid is to reduce government spending or raise taxes or free the market to grow wealth etc. Who’s telling us that?
Take education. Who’s telling us what really needs to be done to improve it? All they do is tinker at the edges.
Frankly, we need solutions not more of the same empty words.
