Rick Lowe
As my friends know I run. Well okay I walk fast and make every effort to get out for my five kilometers at least three times a week.
Which reminds me, I hate the time change back to Eastern Standard time. I prefer light in the evening! It also restricts me to the treadmill indoors.
That aside, there's some great news. Sunshine Insurance is sponsoring what my memory suggests is the first marathon race here on New Providence. At least the first in many years.
Their recently launched web site tells us:
Marathon Bahamas will be the first marathon of The Bahamas in the 21st Century, and will bring together runners and walkers from around The Bahamas as well as internationally. It is anticipated that Marathon Bahamas will become an annual event and every effort shall be made to make it increasingly attractive for participants from the Bahamas and around the world.
This event is designed to attract participants from a cross section of the local Bahamian and international communities including:
- Club runners
- National standard runners
- Tourist runners
- Charity runners
- Elite runners
- Walkers
