While browsing through the CNN pages on the internet regarding the health care reform plan that President Obama is trying to rush through Congress I found an article by Shawn Tully who has apparently found the time to read the 2,000 pages of tortured legal language and it became obvious why the President wants to rush it through Congress. Do it before everyone has a chance to read it!
In his article Mr. Tully lists five cherished freedoms of health care that will be lost:
1. Freedom to choose what is in your plan. Each state will have "qualified" plans but the federal government will impose a list of benefits that each plan is required to offer. Americans will not know what is in their plans, and what they are required to pay for, until after the bills become law.
2. Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay your real costs. The bills would ban insurers from charging differing premiums based on the health of their customers. That's understandable for people with diabetes or cancer. but the bills would bar rewarding people who pursue a healthy lifestyle. It's as if car insurers had to charge the same rates to safe drivers as to chronic speeders with a history of accidents.
3. Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage. The bills seriously endanger the trend toward consumer-driven care in general. By requiring minimum packages they would prevent patients from choosing stripped-down plans that cover only major expenses.
4. Freedom to keep your existing plan. This, and #5 are the two that would disturb me the most because it is socialism. President Obama has has been emphasizing this (the freedom) but the bills say different – they need to be read by everyone.
5. Freedom to choose your doctors. Every individual would be assigned (that means some bureaucrat would decide for you) a primary doctor and this doctor would control your access to specialists.
I see a nightmare in the future for health care in the United States and we can only hope that the Bahamas does not see this as the great plan that President Obama is proclaiming it to be. My hope is for this "grand" plan to be rejected by Congress.
Mr. Tully you sound so much like all the rest of the GREEDY AMERICANS who live in this country and only think of themselves. Give the plan a chance and give Presient Obama a chance. He is not the one who messed up this country. President Bush is the one responsible! HEALTHCARE FOR ALL AMERICANS!!!!!! GO PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!!

By the way, Obama’s plan will end up no differently.
It could be Bush’s for that matter, the results will be same.
As bad as you bash Bush Mr.Ledet, when Obama is finished with you, you and many more will be praying to have a president Bush.Why are you greedy if you don’t want to give away your own hard earned money ? Obama will be the downfall of America. The writing is on the wall.
The nightmare begins! As of today my ELDERLY disabled mother was informed that her Medicare Advantage program was folding because the CARING democrats of the Obama nation CUT the funding for the program! So she is looking at her healthcare costs, for life sustaining equipment, tripling! Obama hates the advantage programs and he is getting rid of them without a whimper from the public. The GOP wants you to die quickly?!?! Hah! Pot meet the kettle. The Dems ARE killing the edlerly RIGHT NOW! Hey Barack can you kill an old person by denying her medical care? YES YOU CAN!
This is a USA issue …. leave it there!!
What are the fact about the Bahamas healthcare system … what are some of the strategic steps undertaking at this time to sustain with a view to become more in line with 21st century technology …. respond with fact and not your emotions!!

No Sir – albeit a common statement – HOW WE REPSOND TO THE AFFECTS OF THE US WHETHER NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE provides the level of our exposure.
Nonetheless – I see all too often folks wanting the Bahamas to adopt policies of other nations ….or conjuring an emotion that is embedded in the fiber of the US with long standing verifiable ideological grounds that can only be found in the US and nowhere else in the world.
Might I add – this can be verified, all industrialized nations have some form of system to deal with healthcare …. reason being, the cost greatly affects the GDP of these nations which in turn affects their positioning in the world toward, investment grading, and foreign exchange valuations ….
Please lets address theses matters with logic and reasoning as it affects us in the Bahamas!!

I have said that those that can buy health insurance should do so and the government should give those that can’t a voucher to buy private insurance.
The government is having a hard time running the post office and we want them to run our health care too?

So what are the people to do, sit by & let Obama destroy the whole country? Sorry, I support the people on this, NOT Obama. It is becoming more & more apparent that has a very socialistic agenda.That is not what built America, however, it will be their downfall.
